I am surprised that more people don't look into working on the Internet as this takes away the need for local employment and opens up a lot more opportunities, and in mant cases more lucrative than working in a call centre or Irish pub.

Heaps of resources on the web as well to start you off. There is translations work, web development, programming or even being an online personal assistant.

There must be a few expats in Spain operating web businesses remotely?

Well as long as youre not in the mountains, the costa del sol is pretty well covered for broadband. Ive had a faultless telefonica connection for the last 6 months. so dont think its that.

If i recall correctly john1979 operates via the net so moved here.

Surely the Internet connections are not that bad in Spain. Cannot be any worse than in Southeast Asia!

I would have thought the most obvious web based business would be buying and selling, I am thinking online auction sites and one very famous one in particular.
