You can do whatever you choose. The main options would be> 1. Employee of your own Ltd company 2. Self employed. Note, very few companies in the oil sector will contract self employed persons. 3. Employee of a company.
You cannot choose whether you pay tax in UK / Spain. This will depend on your residential status. If you search, you will find this topic has been discussed.
I would suggest you consult a GOOD advisor as depending on your circumstances there are pros & cons.

Thanks for the info, I'm currently a ltd company contractor but have the option of going staff. I take the point that proper advice is needed, just interested to see if anyone has actual experience of operating as UK ltd co whilst being a resident of Spain.

School fees for 4 children will make a big hole in your income. I see that the youngest is not yet of an age but the disturbing thing about children is that they get bigger !

We have done some basic online research about schools and fees and yes it will cost us a few quid. We may enrol the younger two into the state system however we are budgeting for them all to attend international schools in case we decide to go down that road.

As I said to my wife upon the arrival of child number three we are now outnumbered!

They all appear to continually consume cereal on an almost hourly basis, is cereal cheap in Spain?

I noticed recently that there is an oil rig training school for divers and other stuff in Torremolinos, but I know sweet FA about them etc.
