Can anyone tell me anyone who will sterilise 2 female cats really reasonably.
I asked my local vet for a discount for doing the two together but all he did was separate out the price for the medicines and then added them back in again. (coming to more than the normal price)!
Because of this I'm a bit pissed off with him actually for treating me like an idiot.
We've already spent a lot on the cats to make sure they're fully vaccinated and to get them through mild but life threatening illness when they were tiny. Had to buy expensive feeding equipment because we're away a lot. For short periods. But a lot. And now we still decided to pay for a visiting cat-sitter. I really need this as cheaply as possible because times are quite hard! We got talked into taking the second cat on because she was female, and then we found out the other one is female too! Doubly expensive to sterilise. We're in Huelva province near Aracena.

You might find someone on here?
Campañas de esterilización, clÃnicas de España, precio especial
I think the going rate is about €80-€100 for a female cat.

It amazes me how expensive neutering is in Spain, it's such a 2 minute job, maybe if the vets dropped their prices more would get their pets neutered! Are there no rescues that have a discount with certain vets in your area?

Try contacting some of the rescue charities. Some of them have a deal with a local vet and manage to get discounted treatment. As far as I'm aware, all rescued dogs and cats will automatically be neutered before trying to re-home them. As long as the vet does the neutering via the charity then everyone's a winner.

Cheek of it! she waited until we said we'd take them and had visited twice before she told us. She was going to make us pay for both but we said no. Actually it was the short haired ginger girl who we really wanted but had been advised by cat lovers that 2 from the same litter was a good idea. And we were told the angora one was male. I must admit I suspected she wasn't. But we'd already decided to take them both. The poor little things were absolutely infested with ear mites and fleas and both had colds and one had diarrhoea. But they're now strong healthy and very happy cats. And it turns out that people were right. Two from the same litter is a good idea. esp as we're away a lot and they keep each other company until the cat visitor gets here. But my last two events haven't paid well and things are v tight. I don't know of any animal charities in the area who have agreements. If anyone knows of anyone in the Huelva area I'd be really pleased to know. I've tried the number for someone in Seville a couple of times but so far no answer. (Thanks Pocaloca for this one).I do understand that vets have fixed costs plus anaesthetics etc. But 130 euros each is more than a bit much for us at the mo. And we're going to have to chip and rabies vaccinate them, By law apparently.

I would have thought any decent rescue charity would help you out even though your cats haven't actually been "rescued". It's no cost to the charity and the vet would be bound to be making some (albeit reduced) profit on the op anyway.
Got to be worth a try because you could just "suggest" to the charity that the cats would have to just fend for themselves otherwise. It's in everyone's best interest to have them done.
Another approach might be to offer a donation to the charity if they take the cats on. The "donation" being that you will pay for any expenses the charity incurs in having to get the cats neutered and jabbed up, and if all done correctly a further "donation" by actually offering to adopt the cats.
Where there's a will there's a way (usually).

These cats weren't exactly 'rescued'. We got them from a woman who refuses to sterilise her cats and just gives away the kittens to anyone who'll take them. She didn't much like the idea that we would sterilise ours actually! She made us pay for the one who happened to come out angora and gave us the short haired ginger girl for free. I think she made us pay because we were brits

Microchips are compulsory but rabies jabs aren't, unless you want a pet passport. Your vet is trying it on.

That's what I thought. A bit much, especially as every time we walk in he's doing nothing! You'd think he'd be happy to have something to do!
