They are coming to us on Saturday. what they said on the phone is they will check signal strength and if ok install a receiver and router . You get 3mb free until June to see whether you are happy, and if so you then pay 89 Euro and start to pay for whatever deal you want. They did say at end of your stay they will take out the equipment and refund you 89 euros.I will ask them when they come round if we can keep equipment in situ for when we come back, as makes more sense. Also for me personally I would want to pay cash monthly for the service and not have a DD on my bank account,so will ask that question as well,as payment options have not been mentioned yet.

I asked today on the phone if they have a package including free calls to UK AND HE IS ENQUIRING HIGHER UP THE CHAIN. The technician is calling Saturday evening to do the test and see if they can reuse the exiting Iberbanda connections.
Ps were are at 19.00 - 19.30. Before I start I have no commercial connection here. I realise I appear to be 'selling' this co.. I'm not and will only meet them on the next trip for the first time to see if the reality is close to the sales pitch. I think there is a little confusion specifically as they are trying to be flexible, I was so happy that they would come out free, check the signal etc, and then discuss my needs. To have a personalised service is excellent IMO... even giving a 3mb service free till June to test it is great IMO. My needs are going to be different to eg EsuriJohn so there could be a different formula for each. It may be difficult to manage for them but lets hope that they can offer a reasonable package to us that they can manage. Also I think its a great idea to ask for extra's as at the moment they appear to be in startup mode and very responsive. So calls to UK, TV etc is great for us and commercially for them if they can add extras that we need, even at a price. In our specific case the baseline is the excellent TMN service, I have been monitoring the costs (and 'hassle' of not having a 24/7 service) with TMN. The costs have risen significantly since the OH got an ipad and we lost the TV forcing us down the internet route (with us its slingbox, though I dip into filmon occasionally). Couch potatoes rule :) BTW I dont consider ourselves very techy and we are certainly not heavy internet users.... we dont do facebook, twitter, downloads, blogs etc etc. All double-Dutch to us! (pun intended :)) And its beautiful out there away from the couch/pit..... children are singing, grass is growing 0cean is blue.... etc. :) If they can match our new level of spending with a 24/7 truly unlimited service, with speeds approaching the ones they sell - then its simply mathematics. And even if I am paying for the times I am not using it, because of installation/deinstallation costs - then so be it. However I hope they can beat our specific TMN spending... Note there is also the potential of the Optimus 4G package - which sounds good too - as we found out about on this thread. Lets not forget that. We just need to find someone who can test it somehow for CE. Quite a few 'forum regulars' are having visits this week - so by the weekend I'm sure they will post and we will know... BTW Not bad to have answers in less than a week - especially over here. Rearrange the words fresh-air-of-breath :) Lets hope those answers meet our needs overall... we all wont get perfection but if better than what we have its a definite improvement. :fingerscrossed: Below are the bulk of the questions I posed, in email after some preamble about location and privacy etc... and some deletions for privacy. We traded emails, with prompt responses, and I felt good about that and their flexibility ..... and so posted on the forum about the home visits etc. Thanks to SATH for the first post Roll-on the weekend and lets hope there is a good new option for Esurians :fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed: As OP for the thread especially after all the 2014 changes (TV new 4G service etc etc) this is exactly what I was hoping for. Lets see.... must try and control 'hopeful feelings' in CE!!!! But can't help it - 'a glutton for.....'! Jon ................................ I have some questions please.. about your INTERNET service. 1. How big is the receiver in my house please? 2. What speeds are you getting in reality in Costa Esuri, Please? 3. I would like a contract where we setup the internet, and I can switch it off when I am not there, is this OK please? 4. Are there restrictions on how long we can use and pay for the internet, please? xxxxxx private info deletedxxxxx 5 How quickly can you turn on and off the internet service, please after the initial installation, please? 6. What is the cost of installation, please? 7. What do you need to make a good installation (e.g Electricity, cabling etc) 8. Please confirm that there are NO download limits on the contract and it is truly unlimited, please. Thank you Jon |
Re: Another Internet thread!
Good Morning,
My name is Jorge Garcia. I´m from Priinet the internet service. I would like to explain the service we provide due to the fact that there is so many questions and concern about it. What we offer is plans of 6Mb or 10Mb unlimited download with no landline required, no permanency contract required neither line rental charges. the cost of the service is €20/mth for the 6MB plan and €25/mth for the 10Mb plan VAT included. Now what we do is go to your house and to check the signal we install the Wifi receptor in your roof or aerial TV and connect to the router with a wire and we check that everything is ok. If everything is fine and you agreed about the service we finish the installation and you choose one of our plan. In that moment you will have to pay 89€(60€for the WIFI receptor and 29€for the router). From this amount 20€will be a deposit fee that we will give you back in case that you decide to cancel the service, we will go to your house and we will get the WIFI Receptor and the router then we will give you back your deposit fee. Right know as we are a company that is starting we offer 3Mb download until june so that means that you only have to pay the the 89€ the day the technicians goes to your house and you won´t pay anything else until june when you will start receiving your 6Mb or 10Mb(the plan that you decided the day the technician went to make the installation). We know that there is a lots of UK residents who doesn´t live all years in Costa esuri or ayamonte so we are thinking about a personalized plan for UK residents that aren´t here all year and want to have internet service. We don´t have ready yet when we do, we will tell you about it. I would like to apologized if I have created some confusion and maybe my English is not as good as i thought anyway if you have any other concern i will be more than happy to reply, this is my email: [email protected] Sincerely Jorge Garcia P.D. I try to contact Sue the administrator to ask for permission to post this but the system doesn't let me send a private message. P.D. there is some neighbors who already have the service in lomas de esuri and you can ask them about it. just need to go to morales store in lomas de esuri. |

Thanks for the explanation (and the responses to my emails). Also to state your interest right up front. I asked you to contact Sue, but I forgot that there needs to be 3 posts before you can send a PM... Sorry about that. I hope that if we keep the discussion 'non-salesy' it will be OK as there is so much interest in your service for the 'Ayamonte Club'. There is a big business opportunity for you to have both a 365 day service (for full time residents) and also a service that allows one easily to pause the service - until the next visit (non-full time residents). I think the interest on this forum in just a few days proves that. If the service is good then most people, myself included, would not cancel the contract, simply put it on 'pause'.. and you would not need to have the hassle (to us both) of sending an engineer twice every time someone visits to install and then de-install the devices and service. Also the net cost of 69 Euros for the customer could make it a problem in many cases. I would suggest for you, that it would be unmanageable if people wanted to have an on/off facility for say just a week. Switching on and off the service and having partial billing is not easy I would guess. So I personally would accept a monthly minimum charge. I may get shot for saying this!! But I would pay for a month even if I stayed 1-2 weeks. If I stayed 5-6 weeks then I would pay for 2 months. This is just my personal opinion. Just keep the service switched on for the period paid for. 1 or 2 months in this example. If you ensure that all your costs of labour and equipment and profit are included in the first installation, then you can simply switch off the service to them if somebody is not paying or steals the equipment. I'm sure there are many other models that could work, I can think of other models as well. I think most of the non-full time residents will be very open to any flexible plan... I can't speak for anybody but myself, but I would certainly also consider paying a small premium over the pricing given to full time residents, to pay for the extra flexibility we are getting. I would also pay in advance if my example is used as above. i.e I send you the payment for a month or two months (whatever), and on receipt you simply 'un-pause' the contract for that period. This way you have no debt collection nightmares - the money is already there! I look forward to finding out about the package you are thinking about for non-full-time use. Could you, please answer 2 questions. I think many will want to know this:
Thank you and I really hope you can come up with a 'win-win' deal. I do believe there is a great opportunity for you, and us, with the right packages. Jon PS Your English is excellent  |

Also the net cost of 69 Euros for the customer could make it a problem in many cases. . My sentiments exactly. I assumed that the Euro 89 payment was to cover the cost to Priinet of purchasing a receiver and a router.Maybe that's wrong.I would be interested to buy both outright and pay the monthly internet fee as and when I am over here. This 69 Euro "reconnection charge " does not make sense to me,and would deter people who come over 5 or 6 times a year. |

One of my pet hates, people who don't show up, without even the courtesy of a phone call :( |

One of my pet hates, people who don't show up, without even the courtesy of a phone call :( I was absolutely banjacksed having worked all day like an Irish navy (compliment they were lions) when I discovered a text from priinet at about 19.00 hrs saying they were coming at 18.30 and series of phone messages to update me on their delay status. They were held up at the shop where I think they may have a repeater mast. What did we get? Very temporary but a mast head decoder box about 9 in by 3 in by 1.5 in in elegant white plastic ( much smaller than the Iberbanda squarial it will replace if I stay with them depends very much on landline transferability and performance for me ). Certainly not as robust or waterproof as the Iberbanda one for our location! This faces the shop. Tested signal at the mast and it was about 85% strength and quality, jerry rigged Ethernet cable down to lounge ( my choice as very temporary if they do not come up trumps ). Tested speed down in lounge after they had unboxed and connected new TP-LINK router showed 3.3mbp at about 21.00 all connected up and logged on using the supplied password. Seems fine so far but was difficult having discussion since my Spanish is practically zero and KATH could not climb all the stairs to the masthead conferance. Still I will talk to priinet office later today. Bob you and Carol can pop up for a cup tea and look see if you would like just ring me on my uk mobile number to check we are in. They may be having difficulty contacting you without a local number! |

I noted the no was uk landline but I left a message anyway.

Would have fitted it there and then, but I need to arrange access to communal aerial. Will do this next week. |

Images of me in the loft as a kid, moving the aerial and everyone shouting 'left a bit more.... no go right!:) I wonder if the shop is a weak link for the mast. If it closes will they have to remove the mast do you think? Thanks Jon PS great that so many people have installed already! PPS Gut feel do you think having it on the aerial mast is necessary, if there is a good location then do you think a bracket on the wall would do? Having to get access (and/or permission) could be a drag, as Bob mentions |

Hi John, you are ideally located to point the aerial in any direction. I was wondering how 'sensitive' they were to direction, line of sight.. where they tweaking it delicately to get the best signal? Appartments and some of the townhouses wont be 'in-line' as well others.

Having to get access (and/or permission) could be a drag, as Bob mentions They made no adjustments just said there is a mast to the south just round the shoulder of the ridge which covers Ayamonte but I thought we would not get that. So they just looked west to the commercial block of which you can see the peak of the roof and pointed it at that all the while muttering about the problems the had just had at "Manolo's". ME may be far enough west to get the Ayamonte mast along with some of VE. For a neat job and if like us you have choice put it next to a conduit that goes into the house then they can pull the cable through without the need to drill holes in the wall. If Iberbanda go and leave the bracket we will just move the transponder onto that and plug in the cable that K and me pulled through to our bedroom using my electricians "fish" and draw strings. We then pulled through under the floor so that all the cables are tidy behind the TV. The signal strength and the TD-LINK router must be very good coz last night after the football we sat outside Marco's and I opened the iPad and immediately picked up about 6 priinet routers but all were locked. Same happens at Limonaro so it is spreading like wildfire. Good to see what a bit of healthy competition does. |
Re: Another Internet thread!
Hi Guys, I bought a duplex on M3 of ME, just this year. Its an end one hence quite open aspect .Open views about south east I guess from roof. Any ideas whether this might be an option for me? It's the line of sight thing I'm not too sure about, but we do miss our wifi when there and some tv in winter months for a week or two would be nice. I have no idea what other brits are doing now sky has ceased working. With both the golf club and jags closed last month trying to use the net was a pain.

If you are only here for a few weeks a year it is probably not your best option. It's appeal is for full time or like us 6 months a year residents. For TV can u ask do you have a satellite dish that used to get itv/sky?
I suppose there is always the chance that Priinet might evaporate like Jags but it's not a huge outlay to lose if you aren't on a long contract. Any other solution involves a fixed landline and a minimum contract with a telecomm supplier plus a ISP/broadband charge on top, or G3/4 dongles. Even a G3 dongle is quite expensive if you can get a decent download before hitting a "fair usage" limit. G4 (from TMN) requires an 18month contract and a Portuguese bank account. Or did you have another option in mind which hasn't been explored yet? |
