What that phrase means is that some nasty minded, godbothering little bigot thinks that they have the right to stick their noses into other people's business. They don't.

Nuclear reactions, strychnine, homosexuality, rape, warfare, - all natural.
Mom's apple pie, cars, shoes, sliced bread, all very unnatural.

The doctors were considering turning off the life support for some brain dead accident victim, and the godbotherers are massing to protest saying doctors 'Must not play god!' (by turning off the machine.)
They are far too stupid to realise that by keeping the victim ALIVE they were playing god.
Other ways of playing god include vaccinations, glasses, hearing aids, hospitals and so on.
Personally I believe that all religious people, edifices and so on be denied all help and support. Let god see to it.
Faith schools, churches and so on to be denied charitable status, and get NO state money at all. You belive in that crap, you pay for it.
I want my tax dollars spent on the real world.

I don`t give two monkies about any god, the point being is how can it be natural if only a few partake in it, if it was natural then everyone would partake and it would go unnoticed.
