hello, my partner and I are seriously considering moving to Alicante (surrounding areas) in the new year with our 6 year old daughter. We visited in the summer but stayed in Elche which I wasn’t a fan of.
I was wondering if anyone could offer and advice, I want my daughter to go to an English school and have friends. Where are there other expats? What are the best schools and areas to live ?
Thank you in advance.

If this is a 'forever' move then your daughter would be better in a state school.
Will you be requiring work?

This question has been asked so many times before.
What is a good area for some will not suit others. Apart from living close to other ex Pats and an international school, what are your requirements?
There are good international schools in Montesenos and Cuidad Quesada.

i would be wanting an English school as my daughter will be almost 7 so not speaking Spanish would be difficult and she would struggle to settle id presume.
also no I would not be requiring work.

Even at 7 she would certainly NOT struggle. My children were the same age when we arrived and they did fine - don't worry. Far better for her in the long run as she would make so many more Spanish friends at a local school.

mommy_moving, What was it about Elche that prevented you becoming a fan of the place?

I liked the area for a holiday. Quiet, peaceful place. However it was a really Spanish community didn’t meet any English while there. Not to much to do in the local area we stayed at. I just want somewhere slightly more lively, integrated etc. I live in the city and don’t want a complete change to that.
