I think UK interest rates will rise strengthening the pound. Probably wrongly.

Well, it is what happens when you put your head above the parapet, you get snipped at : -
Johnnyone makes a good point; the BoE Committee was divided, but it is anticipated they will raise the Base Rate, next time ,depending by how much,it could cause a flow or flood of investment . That will put weight on the Pound. Then, if the Spanish politicians have been telling "Porkies" ( ask m´mate from Walthamstow, to translate ) which does become them, so they too ask for support from the European Central Bank, it could be ( to be Franc) back to the Peseta chaps & ladies?
HBG, don´t give in, we are privileged to have pray, just be stoical, if you get a reply that says, " Cheer up, things could get worse & they do" you have had your moneys worth.
So, who will keep the book on these "Eachpay Bets", I go a € Tenner for Help the Heroes -1:60 or the big P:

I've studied the currency rates, seriously; I've looked at graphs and even paid to read the FT and The Times. I've read essays and expert opinions all over the place and even considered doing some harm to Mervyn King, like letting his tyres down.
...
I still think that the pound Sterling should buy at least 1.50 Euros.

I've seen gloomy reports stating that as North Sea oil runs out, and the QE effects become more apparent, that the pound will sink as low as 90 cents. I prefer to be more optimistic and think these things come in circles. The sentiment in the market will change and the pound will be worth 1.25 Euros next year. One can only hope...
Btw has anyone heard from that financial chap who used to post here (I think his id was beachcomber)? He seemed to have a lot of background knowledge on how the markets operated.

Well the only way to come out on top is to play the game, transferring money everytime there is a fluctuation big enough to make it worthwile, Some toing and froing, but the rate does not have to be great to make a few bob, it just has to be better then the last transfer you did.
Same money going backward and forward, it certainly works, better than sticking it in an ISA for the rubbish interest.
