Default Alarm companies!

Any one having problems with securitas direct. We have keys to a number of alarmed properties. They keep on phoning customers saying that they must have a third sensor installed, this is a legal requirement and they must pay 50€ for the privilege. Some of our customers have refused, in these cases SD have either not fitted a 3rd sensor (what happened to the legal requirement?) or fitted one for free. Others have either paid or have been offered the opportunity to have 50 cents a month added to their bill which will take over 8 years to pay 50€ although SD will obviously make more in the long run. Has anyone had any other security company calling to say they must have a 3rd sensor fitted. Is this reallly a legal requirement or are they on some telefonica type scam!

I used to work for them and it is a requirement for new systems. Existing systems can be upgraded but i would say it is just a sales gimmik.

It cannot be stipulated in law that you must have 3, 4, 8, whatever amount of sensors. There is no such law governing this.

We have a securitas alarm and were also spoken to about this. We were told it was a "recommendation" by the Police, basically so that it is easier to distinguish false alarms from genuine ones, thereby not wasting the Police's time. For example, if you have an intruder all sensors should activate. However, if it is a false alarm only one sensor would activate the the others wouldnt.

I asked Securitas what would happen if we didnt have the extra sensor installed and he admitted that nothing would happen. It's just that they have been told people should have X amount of sensors and they are covering their backs by informing their clients.

It's not a scam, but it is not a legal requirement either.....just a recommendation.
