we are moving to nerja shortly and as we have just sold our airconditioning and refrigeration buisness here, we want to set up again in spain. We know there are already alot of airconditioning installers out there, but after speaking to quite a few contacts there we have been told yes they can get airconditioning installed but it is impossible to get it repaired. We want to offer a really good service just as we do here in the uk. We then want to set up training courses for people wanting to live in spain but do not have a trade. any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

There are loads of companies that will service/repair aircon systems.

Thankyou both for the replys, we know there are alot of airconditioning, refrigeration companys, we have done alot of research into it, but alot of the english people and resturants we have spoken to have said it is difficult to get someone out within 24 hours and to get a good job done. We have also seen alot of the installations done and the work is of a poor standard. wonderd if anyone could give us feed back of any refrigeration of aircon work done.

It's certainly true that there are a lot of (sadly, mainly British) cowboys around here - air-con, satellite TV, swimming pools, landscape gardening, Internet and PC repair - you name a service required by a new resident and you'll find Bob or Dave does the lot! (Sorry if your name happens to be Bob or Dave and you run a legit business out here!)

In one house we rented, the aircon unit in one room was fitted below the gravity-fed condensate outlet. Result... drip drip drip every time it was turned on. The other unit had no gas in it at all, probably marginal from the factory and sloppy installation.

I guess the market is out there... but the key will be differentiating yourselves from the illegal workers that can always undercut you because they won't be paying tax, and of course who have the gift of the gab
