Default Advice needed on setting up B&B spain

Hi group
I am looking into moving to Spain with my partner and 17 ye old son to long term rent a property and set up a B&B possibly around Granada to get the winter ski season also

What problems may arise renting a villa and using it for my own business purpose? Is this a realistic idea or do I need to sell my property in the UK and buy in spain rather than rent ?
Any help or advice on this would be most appreciated given this is my 2 year plan I want to be fully informed

Many thanks Natasha

I see you found the Spain forum so doubtless others will be along soon with some pointed information.
Do you or your partner speak Spanish? Dealing with foreign bureaucracy is fraught with difficulties if you do not have an adequate grasp of the local lingo!
Remember things may change somewhat after the referendum , but as it's a 2 year plan hopefully you'll be able to adjust as needed!

good Luck with your dream.

There is no reason that you cannot set up a B&B in a rental property, so long as you have the landlord's permission.

However, you need to be aware that the Junta de Andalucia have just implemented a new law which requires all tourist rentals to register and meet certain requirements which can involve modifications or additions to the property, such as air conditioning and heating. Whether the owners would be prepared to let you do this could be a problem.

Lots if information here
