Of course you don't, you're English.

The family book is given in Spain upon marriage or if there is none upon registration of the first child. The school can't insist you produce documents that don't exist, so don't worry about it. Maybe you could show them the birth certificate instead.

At the very worst they could ask for a copy birth certificate and una traducción jurada of that document (i.e. translated and sworn by someone registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Official Translator).

Don't worry! My daughter has been to 3 different schools, it is listed as one of the documents required, but there has never been a problem not having one. As we are english and the children have not been born here we are not expected to have it.

we made up our own version and it always did fine

just take copies of all your passports, redidency cards/certs, birth, marriage certs, NIE´s, padron, rental contract,

put it all in a folder and bobs your uncle, what we also did was translate it to Spanish for them (copied from a fellow expat)

like I say, always was accepted when needed

I didnt say there was, just sometimes it was needed for certain things so was easier to make up a book (once) that had everything in it, well for me anyway

we were never asked for it either, like the others said just take birth certificate, marriage, passport and anything else. What school is she going to be attending?? we are in Aspe and have friends with kids in various schools here.
