There will be me, my husband, 3 children (5 years old, 3 and a half and 6 months old), also my parents are planning on moving too. We'd need a town that is flatish as my father is in a wheelchair and needs to be able to get about on his own as well. Anyone have any ideas on which places would best suit?

Good schools are a must and possibly some expats too but we are all going to learn the language. We hope to move as soon as possible but realistically that will be after my husband gets a job there, we plan on starting to learn the language now.

Does anyone know what it's like for IT jobs there? My husband works in IT as a senior systems anylyst and hopes to continue this in Spain.

Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

Jodie
I don't know if you've tried further south, Los Alcazares is very flat, close to all amenities and the airport is 10 minutes away. Mar Menor is on the doorstep too. The only drawback is there are lots of Brits, but then again if you want IT work that may be the best place to start.

I'll start looking further south if i struggle to find a job. What is it about those 2 places and Gibralter that means they have so many IT related ones? Usually there are IT jobs everywhere.

I'm hoping my work continue to employ me remotely at a reduced rate to save all the job hassle though.

Are there many things for young kids to do around Gandia / Oliva when there's no school? Obviously beaches but are there water parks or other kinds of play areas etc? From all the schools i understand there are plenty of children about.

They're big on sports here, theres a big sports centre in Oliva with football grounds and a heated pool. If your kids are into football there a big league. You can hop on a train to Valencia for about 6 euros return and visit the Sealife centre and the port, or go South to Benidorm where theres a waterpark, sealife centre and an amusement park with rides.

Theres a big karting centre just outside Oliva on the El Verger road (N332) and I noticed on the beach theres a sailing / windsurfing club with a lot of young kids getting together. The beaches are blue flag and have vollyball nets. Theres the marina at Gandia & Oliva where I believe you can get sailing lessons.

depends how old your kids are

there is a water park at Cullera which is an excellent day out

my son plays in the local football team but thats only from Oct-May

at the queens centre, which is by mcdonalds Gandia there is a small ball play area aswell as pool tables and dartboards and you can get snack food there

at El Verger there is a safari park and also a play park which you can go into without going into the safari park itself

there are waterfalls in Algar (inland from Benidorm)

a good way to mix with the local kids is at the local pools - there is one in Ador opens 11-1 and then 5-8 and there is one in Palma opens all day (1€ for kids to get in 1,5€ for adults). Also a large pool in Gandia with a sliding roof that is open all year

Aquopolis ...... sounds like somewhere Jonathan Ross goes.

I drive down that road regularly, I've never seen signs for it or anything!!

Really worried now.

When you were learning to drive did the instructor not tell you that you need to keep your eyes open when you are driving??????
