Not sure if anyone can assist with our problem, but we thought we would ask.
About a week ago, our Spanish friend enquired with Telefonica about obtaining ADSL BB. They must have done line check and said yes. Monday re received a box with the router etc, but no letter. We were told we had to install ourselves.
Why we mention about a letter, is that in the letter is supposed to be a user name and password; service data and other information to access Telefonica web pages.
Everything installed, but we cannot connect to Telefonica - ADSL light does not show up, basically saying no signal. We have tried the Online Technical Assistant program and that tells us no signal.
We have tried using their helpline, but we were waiting and waiting, so we gave up.
Does anyone know, if Telefonica have to do any activation from their end, or how do we activate our ADSL?

When I got mine, I installed the disk that came with the router and found that the usario is adslppp@telefonicanetpa, and the conrasenio is adslppp for all telefonica routers.
I’m using XP.

Telefonica routers work straight out of the box. The CD is only used to make special changes to the setup or to reinstall the original settings if you accidentally reset the router.
You do not need any IDs or passwords, they are preinstalled.
If the ADSL light is not coming on the most likely cause is that they delivered the router before they had set up the line for ADSL. It can take a few days.
The other possibility is that they have connected the router via one of the microfilters by mistake.

Fred
In some ways, this is what we thought may be happening; that Telefonica have not sorted out their end; ie set up the line.
We called it activation, but setting up the line is what we meant.
We have a friend of ours coming to lunch tomorrow and he said he will telephone them to make sure they are setting up the line.

They may have activated it but they may have set it up wrong.
I installed one recently on a line which Telefonica said could only support 3mb.
They set it up for 6mb and then the ADSL light would not come on. They had to downgrade it to 3mb to get it to work OK.

Could be any of the above BUT router does usually arrive before letters or being set up, this is Telefonica.
OR as in my case after all the phoning etc it turns out the router was faulty.

Normally the ADSL light shows if the router finds a ADSL line - no matter if you have set up the configuration or not.
So if the ADSL light is not on, then you line may not have been activated by TF yet....
Many TF routers work straight out of the box, but some you have to se tup manually:

has one such configuaration settings on there - but these may change depending on your payplan or provider...but generally these are the most widly used telefonica ADSL settings

Good luck with Telefonica!!!!!!!
I had ADSL with them for 4 months and then it stopped working.
I reported the fault only to be told that "I have never had ADSL with Telefonica"
I have since changed.

I was with telefonica (Terra) to start with and then changed to Wanadoo (Orange) to get a better service. It was worse so I changed back to telefonica.
Over the years, it has improved, but I found a friendly tecnico along the way and don’t bother with their help service any more but go direct to him. It saves on the paperwork too.
