At least in Central Africa you can get satellite phone. :)

The Tooway equipment is designed for self installation so you should only need to get it sent to you. Friends who live close by in Southern Spain have this equipment and it was installed for them. Might be worth enquiring.

I see they recommend Avanti rather than Tooway for Spain. I don't know anything about them.

Hi, sorry to raise this thread again but my friends still don't have internet.

I have tried to call Avonline but no one ever answers the phone, I also emailed them and am still waiting after 2 days!

You say Tooway is self installable - where can we get the kit and where would we then get an account to provide the service?

My friends are really desperate now as no-one seems willing/able to come to Ontinyent (what do they know I wonder :sneaky:). It would seem that only satellite internet will work where they are but there are no installers covering this area.

Thanks

we got our tooway kit from bentley walker in the UK it came in 7 days, they have several packages available and were much cheaper than anything we found in Spain. We use skype everyday with no problem you just have to make sure you pause to make sure the other person has finished talking. We also use VOIP via the satellite modem giving us a UK landline so family can phone us. As its an english ip address we can download from BBC iplayer but you need one of the bigger packages for this, we have tried streaming but that is a bit more un reliable downloading works fine.

That sounds wonderful. Do you have a UK contract then?

Can you please pm me the details and perhaps some contact info for Bentley Walker.

Hi snikpoh - sorry your friends are having difficulty.

There are any number of satellite broadband suppliers who sell in Spain so I don't know what the difficulty is.

I googled Satellite Broadband Spain and got a huge list of suppliers. Should be just a matter of starting at the top and working your way down until you get a satisfactory result.

Yep, that's exactly what we are doing.

Many don't answer the 'phone or subsequent emails but the majority simply don't cover this area and have no installers to recommend.

Yesterday we must have tried over 20 such companies - we're still looking!

Correos are advertising a system might be worth popping into your local office to check it out.
