Default 3 day Gibraltar trip.

Just got back from the 3 day Gibraltar trip that is advertised by a local company. If you are thinking of booking this trip you will be travelling on the coach for a total of 20 hours over the 3 days but you are only allowed 4 1/2 hours in Gibraltar!

If you need some information about the dire hotel you will be staying in you can PM me and I'll give you a run down of the rip off prices at the hotel and in the tourist areas of Gib.

Moan over

Thanks for the feedback because I was seriously thinking about doing this one, I thought that the company had a good reputation so I am disappointed.

Absolutely arrange the trip and hotel yourself. Definitely one inside Gibraltar if you can. As I said we only got 4 1/2 hours and you need much more time if it's the first visit. Our hotel was at a organised stopover at Torremolinos, Hotel Royal Costa. So avoid that one if you can.

(Hope I'm ok naming the hotel Rosemary? )

I have been there many times as it is a relatively short trip for us. 4 1/2 hours is long enough and 3 hours of that is in Morrisons and M&S etc..

It really isn't worth the trip unless you have a serious historical interest.

There are far more interesting places in Spain to visit on a 3 day trip.

The other time is spent travelling on the coach!

2 hours travelling from Torremolinos to Gibraltar, arriving at 11 am, 4 1/2 hours free time in Gibraltar then another 2 hours travelling back to Torremolinos!

We spent our time in Gib walking around the square at the start of Main Street, having a meal there then looking at the shops and sights up and around Main Street. By that time we had to make our way back to the pickup point.

We didn't go in either M & S or Morrisons.

My partner really wanted to go to Gibraltar and from Orihuela I think it is a long journey. We are now booked to go in 10 days time but stopping in Benalmadena for 3 nights with a day trip to Gibraltar and another to Malaga as well as Torremolinos. Hope it's better than the one you describe.

Spain must be devoid of "PROPER" food because thousands of expats flood from miles around to strip Morrisons shelves bare.

I wanted to go just to see the place and not to shop as I can buy all that I enjoy in my locality. It is too far for me to drive even with a few stops so I thought that it would be great to go on this sort of trip but this information has totally put me off.

Rosemary the negative remarks by tebo53 are with reference to the travel company and Spain.

I suggest you look for alternative travel companies or make your own plans

I would happily entertain you at this end at a cost of 1 beer

Unfortunately I was going to use the same company as they seem to be the principle tour company for this sort of trip in this area. Will look at alternatives as I really do want to visit Gib.

1 beer, you are cheap!!!!

Yes Rosemary, as Fred rightly points out my gripe was with the tour companies itinerary. We found Gibraltar very nice for the parts we saw and would have liked a full day.

For the price of a beer I'll come too!
