Boo, the 110 limit saved the country millions and gave the oil countries a nasty hiccup.

I cannot understand this one, if it saved the country that much money then why up again ? The cost to change them to and fro may keep folk in work but cannot be sensible. If the small reduction made a big impact then leave it there. Those that want to break the law will do it no matter what the limit is.

The lower limit only applied to Ex-Pats, the Spanish especially the taxi drivers being exempt !!!

Fuel prices rise, folk think more about if their intended trip is essential, less fuel is imported.
So far as "so many million cars driving at 10 K an hour slower" I wonder how many actually did? Driving at 110kmh (when I did) and watching the number of cars and vans flying past, I have to wonder!

What the government conveniently left out of its quoted "saving", was how much less fuel is NATURALLY used every time the fuel prices increase, regardless of their introducing what was probably the lowest speed limit on the continent.

I saw very few drivers actually observing the 110 limit. I think the only difference (if any) it could have made was to increase the income from fines. To bring it in then almost immediately change it back again is farcical!
