Hi,
I'm returning to SA this side of Christmas'15 and am looking to ship some of my things from the UK. I'm very unlikely to use a whole container. I would therefore appreciate any suggestions on how I go about finding the best, most reasonably priced options for sending my stuff back. How do I figure out how much space I'll need etc?

and here's a guide to getting a quote and choosing a mover. The best option for figuring out how much space you'll need is to either arrange for a moving company to send a move consultant to do a home survey (this is free and no obligation) OR use an online self survey tool from your chosen movers website if they have one
