Hi all, new to the forum. I am planning on moving back to the UK from Singapore later this year, does anyone know of a reputable shipping company in Singapore that could ship my personal items to UK. I dont have that much in the way of belongings, mainly clothes, books, and some electrical items. Many thanks folks. Simon

I would avoid Allied Pickfords had terrible exprience with them. If you get a quote from them ensure they write down all the and I mean ALL. Their sales rep. have a tendecy to under quote as as the small print states that the actual cost depends on the final volume of the shipment.
So they will get customers thro' the door by quoting a low price against competition but the final cost will be higher.
After you have signed up thier customer service response time and engagement is slow.
I would recomend CROWN. Though not the cheapest but has good global coverage and will quote more accurate cost. All the best

We've had two expat postings in Singapore. The first time we left (for New York/New Jersey) we used KC Dat (Asian Tigers). They were excellent.
The second time when relocating from Singapore to Switzerland 2 years ago (btw we have to get 3 quotes and go for the cheapest) we used Santa Fe. Also excellent.
For small shipments (eg. less than a half-container) they usually combine your stuff with someone else's shipment going to the same country/docks, and seperate it with a wooden board - it's a very normal practice.
Be very careful if shipping 'antique' furniture; most of our Chinese elm wood furniture cracked due to the much lower humidity in the US, even despite using a humidifier. However, on our second posting we bought a reclaimed teak dining table (from 'Origins') and it had been seasoned properly in a kiln. It's here in Switzerland and no cracks at all

Sorry to say we used KC Dat from Singapore to Thailand and it wasn't a good experience ....and expensive. Maybe we had the B shift or something. This was back in 2007. Perhaps they have improved since then.
