Default Job offer Commercial Manager

Hello British Expat Forum.

I've been offered a job as a Commercial Manager in Singapore, for 190,000SGD a year ALL IN this is on a local contract. I am married with 2 kids, Ages are 19 months and 3 Year old. My wife will be staying home with the kids.
Could you give me an idea if this is a reasonable salary? I’ve not worked in Singapore before and I am currently in London on a Data Centre project.

I am a contractor in the Data Centre sector and my present contract in the UK is coming to an end. Current salary 600 £ a day.

Thanks
Millen

For a local contract it seems OK to me.

Uoiu should check out what rental costs are and how much you might pay for pre schooling.

Doubt if you'd be able to buy or run a car though.

That depends on which school you will be sending your kids to, the rental that you pay etc. Should always come and check it out before you decide...

Cabs are cheap here so a car is not necessary.

That's high for a local and is probably adjusted up for the fact that as a foreigner here you will have far more expenses than the locals which would consist of:

Flat: $4-5000 say for a reasonable 3 bedder in the suburbs. Can go as low as $3000 if you look carefully.
Schools: Local private kindergartens are about $700 per month per child. International schools will charge anywhere from about $2000 to $3000 per month per child so its important to think about this if coming for a long time. However you can keep your kids in local kindergarten here until they are 7 which can help a lot.
Health Insurance: $10,000 per year for family. No NHS here.
Utilities: $350 a month if you do not go too mad with the aircon
Groceries: About $800 a month
Internet: $50 per month
Car: Secondhand one can be leased for $2000 a month (will be about 4 years old and still in very good condition. All maintenance included)

So with 2 kids in top international schools that adds up to about S$12000 per month without the car. Also do not forget that there will be some income tax coming off the $190,000
