Default Feedback on removal companies

If someone used one of those removal companies (see the list below), could you give a feedback on them? Search online showed mixed reviews, and I was very surprised to see many negative feedbacks about Abels, as they were the most professional in their communications, making survey and so on.

Also, is it good to take a company that has a lowest quote? I do wonder, how a company comes with the lowest quote: do they compensate the price after accepting offer, by adding extra charges at the end and making their final cost similar to quotes from expensive companies? I asked a lot questions, and the cheapest company gave good answers, but somehow it feels strange.
However, the highest quote should rise questions too: why a company's service is so expensive?

- Robinsons
- Abels
- White and Company
- John Mason

Hi Woodygold and welcome to the forum

Reasonable question from exReg. Presume you are moving to Singapore?

Hi ex reg and bakedbean

It is nice to finally meet you ;-). I saw many replies from you both on various topics. Very helpful, indeed.

Actually, I would like to hear any feedbacks on those companies from any anyplace to any place, but if going specific, then from be UK to Singapore.
Are removal services varied on from where to where people move?

Yes I think Where to Where comes into the equation usually. What you find quite often is that you may use Company A say in the UK where the shipment is loaded......then maybe Company A doesn't actually operate in the destination country....so....you end up with another company at destination and that may need to be researched.

We did do a move UK to Singapore but cannot remember who we used but I wouldn't recommend them anyway. It wasn't one of the ones on your list. Sorry...not much help there.

It's a mishmash.
Whoever you decide upon someone else will have had a bad experience with them.

Get three quotes, see if there's much diff in price and if one is easier to talk to or deal with.
Make a choice go with it, you won't be desperately wrong.

We used Crown from UK to Sing for a part container a year or so ago.
We though they were good, but I've seen comments that people will never use them again or recommend them.
We'd use them again and recommend them.
But three quotes first.

All 4 are reputable companies, but there are a couple of things you can do to help choose....

First thing to do is ensure all quotes are like for like, here's some tips on comparing the quotes, on some of the soft factors as well as price http://britishexpats.com/forum/showthread.php?t=785367

Pricing for international moving is complex, we try to explain it a bit here http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...8#post10903078 hope it helps?

Thank you, kirstyp, for the links.

What bother me is not the small difference in price of shipments that come from various companies, but the large one, for example, one company would ask for a container (same size) £4,000 but another would ask £5,000 or more. That is very large difference.
Do I need to worry about a company that asking £4,000 or £5,000?

We used John Mason from London to Sydney and I absolutely couldn't fault them. I must have mailed them about 1000 questions and they were so helpful and patient. On the removal day they had our 38 boxes in the van within 45 minutes, kept us informed of the containers progress the whole way. When the container arrived in Sydney it was held at port for two weeks (until we secured our rental) and they never charged us for it. Finally absolutely nothing was damaged, broken...in fact the boxes looked like they had never left London, they were pristine! Highly recommended.

Out of these four companies I would say there is likely a good reason for the difference, have you gone back to the more expensive companies yet to discuss the prices? they may be able to point out why their quotation is higher? (different destination agent, different shipping line, different level of service etc). Only way you'll be comfortable in your decision is to ensure you've asked them all the questions - I can only speculate
