Re: Does Singapore fit the bill?
Rajesh - we don't have kids so I can't give you personal experience of paying International School fees on a local contract. I guess it depends just how good that contract is.
Rizwan - as Rajesh says, how long is a piece of string? I would say, a couple can live pretty well on S$10k a month, but many people earn a lot less and consider they have a good life too. You can eat out here for S$3 or S$300 per person, it's up to you.
As a girl from Yorkshire I can't get my head round paying S$15k a month rent, but I know people that do. I can't even get my head round paying S$2.2k a month, which is what we pay for a house we love in a less than desirable area.
We don't have a car; we use buses, trains and cabs. Using cabs exclusively, it would still be cheaper than leasing a car and IMO a lot less hassle than driving here.
Why not explore opportunities for an expat contract and, if all else fails, try to get a transfer? You really have to consider whether you have something special that can't be employed locally, to justify the expat package and also for the company to justify your EP to the Ministry of Manpower.
