This might be a silly question but can anybody tell me if there is a way of searching for work in Canada from the UK as my husband and I are struggling to find any decent information, we are looking to go on a work permit and then apply for citizenship once we qualify. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Hi

The following link provides an excellent tool to assist you with your Canadian job hunting journey.

You will come across actual current jobs, which dependant upon your initiative may provide you with an opportunity to hook up with an employer who may be interested in your skill set.

The process once you have a TWP is apply for PR, if that is successful and you fulfill residency criteria you can apply for citizenship. Cannot go directly from TWP to citizenship.

For job search got to google.ca, type in job search and select 'Canada' lots come up. Not sure how many would be willing to hire from abroad though. Often the best way is find firms in your area of skill and then visit the country and meet with them.

As the others have suggested, you really need to read the Job Hunting section of the Wiki (on blue bar at top of page).

It has loads of useful info, from how to convert your CV to a Canadian resume, to how to dress at an interview. It will explain to you the importance of networking so you'll probably need to get out there for a reccie trip and try and secure employment that way, that route seems to get the most success for the majority of people. Having said that, it will depend on your occupations, what are they? That might help us tailor the advice somewhat and tell you what your chances are..

Also, as previously pointed out, you can go from TWP to PR, and then once you've been a PR for 3 years, that's when you can apply for citizenship.

Good luck.
