Went well thanks - not sure that we'll get the gig but my teacher has pretty much taken me on as his side kick now which obviously I'm really pleased about considering I still havent finished my course. Its not a guaranteed income but I'm chatting to him every day and hes putting work my way quite a bit
That's great news. Well done

That's excellent Rach, good on ya!

BTW someone at work is looking to have a site with a shop for selling fashion - can you do that kind of thing?

They'd need to look at getting ecommerce software (you can buy it online) and then I'd be able to work around that

Give them my email addy if you like and I can chat with them

Ok thanks. Do you know if they have a content management system with them or is that a separate thing?

To be honest I dont know too much about them - but I would assume it was included?

Maybe someone else will come along with a bit more info?? I'd be interested to find out more actually too.

Most e-commerce software is pretty much stand alone, out of the box type stuff with a built in administration section but if you required a larger, more comprehensive site, with discussion forums and the like, you can easily tie the two together.

They could also use a CMS such as Drupal, Xoops or Joomla that have e-commerce plugins. These packages allow total control over your site and there are thousands of modules and plugins to enhance the functionality.

It's not a huge task to build a tailor-made store from scratch but there are numerous Open Source (free) solutions out there that can be adapted to their requirements but unless they are experts, I wouldn't suggest attempting to build it themselves with a WYSIWYG site builder. If it's for a business that wants to be taken seriously, I would advise they have it done professionally and shop around for quotes before committing.
