Do you live in Woombie?
#1
Hi all
Hubby has been offered a job in Toowoomba. SO chuffed! We are going through visa application at the moment.
But what would you say are the pros and cons about living in Woombie? What are the people/schools/houses like? We enjoy living in more remote parts, so don't think that will be a problem.
Keep fingers crossed, hopefully we will meet some of you there!

Where the heck is Woombie? Is it near Toowoomba? Ive never heard of it
.
Toowoomba itself is a large country town, up on the ranges, so gets very cold in winter, but also can get very hot in summer because its inland. It services a very large area, all agricultural, from Lockyer valley in the east to the plains of the western Downs to the west. Very *rural*, with the main shopping emphasis on tractors & which fertilliser to buy
. Its about 2 hrs west of brisbane, so easy access if you need "the big smoke". Cant really help with the schools although the people are nice - typical aussie ocker, laidback country folk in general.
If you dont mind country, then it would probably be one of the better choices for rural living, mainly because of its proximity to Brisbane.
Hope that helps

We moved to Toowoomba 3 months ago, we love it. It's not a strange country town like you would think, in fact it's quite trendy in parts!
Parks are great, views fantastic, schools got a great rep i believe!
Do you have kids? We have a one year old girl.
What does hubby do? Where's the job?
Hope the application is quick for you, it only took about 2-3 months for us once we had a job offer.
Good Luck, hopefully will hear from you.
