Hi all,
Hoping to get some advice on moving out to Saskatoon!
The wife and I are looking at emigrating to Canada, our original plan was to move Toronto way however since neither of us are on the pre approved job titles list we were advised to go over on a study visa and then apply for residency once we have proven ourselves productive members of society!
The fees in Ontario were excessively high, especially for oversees students.
The Saskatchewan fees are much more reasonable and we are currently looking at moving across to Saskatoon.
Our questions!
The issue is I work in IT as a Linux Sys Admin and know of companies etc in Toronto but I have no idea what the IT market is like in Saskatoon?
We have read that the crime rate is "high" but we currently live in London in the UK where crime is pretty high, wondering if it is as bad as I have read.
Any info would be appreciated!
Thanks
Greg

I have visited Saskatoon several times (my fiancee currently lives there). Although I am not in IT, I can think of a few big companies that might be hiring in that field viz. CGI, SaskTel, Point2 Technologies etc.
Coming from London, Saskatoon will seem like a safe city to you. Like I have mentioned in a couple of different threads, how dangerous/safe a city is is all very subjective to where you are moving from in the world.

You can work part-time (20 hours/week) on-campus if you have a valid study permit. In order to work off-campus, you need to have an off-campus work permit. The off-campus work permit allows you to only work part-time as well.
Please note that the off-campus work permit is different from the temporary work permit (TWP).
EDIT: Just to clarify, if you have a study permit and an off-campus work permit, it doesn't mean that you may work 20 hrs on-campus and 20 hrs off-campus. The most you can ever work while you are a full-time student is 20 hrs/week.

Hi,
I prolly should have been a little clearer!
The wife will be studying and I will be working
as far as I am aware the spouse of a student visa holder can work as normal?
