There is plenty of info. regarding the above already on this forum.

If you use the search facility you should find most of what you need to know. If you have any more questions to ask then you're in the right place

We've been to Calgary twice. There is lots to see and do. Since we were there 2 years ago on holiday I'm sure it's grown even more - and the house prices are gone through the roof. I believe it's around $500,000 for a single family home now.

Hi Crafty

Nice to see you

I went last August and then again in May of this year and it is incredible the amount of growth that the city is going through - as well as the increase in the property market. I do believe though that this has started to level out at about 8% growth as opposed ridiculous amounts

Here is the Wiki article that provides a general introduction to Calgary's neighbourhoods.

Here is a thread called more calgary questions that deals with a variety of topics, but mainly commuting.

If you have school aged kids, you should read the Wiki articles on Canadian schooling and Calgary schooling.

This thread entitled Where to live in Calgary? deals largely with schooling. It addresses some of the challenges with schooling, most specifically the issue of bussing if a neighbourhood does not have a school of its own or if the local neighbourhood school is too full.

This thread called New Home - serious "Garden" compromise discusses the sizes of yards (gardens).

Here is a thread called Are Calgary winters much colder than Toronto?

I suggest you go to the Search page, type Calgary into the Key Word box, type gryphea into the User Name box, highlight Canada, and then click on the Search Now button. This will bring up all the threads in which gryphea has mentioned Calgary. I recommend that you follow her line of enquiry, because she is in the process of moving to Calgary and she has demonstrated an above average degree of diligence in researching Calgary (in my opinion). If you follow gryphea's threads about Calgary, it is unlikely that you will let anything really important slip through the cracks.

If you do not yet have a job lined up, you should read the Wiki article called Careers in Canada. It tells you how to establish the equivalency of your qualifications, how to "network" (that is, how to socialize and find out about jobs that are not advertised and that are in the "hidden job market"), how to format your resume (CV) according to the Canadian convention, how to write a cover letter for your resume and a thank you letter after any contact with a prospective employer (important though a resume is, letters are even more important), how you have to be proactive and use the phone in marketing yourself to prospective employers, etc.

In the thread entitled How much to live, cost breakdown, see Steve_P's post #28 about monthly living costs in Calgary.

See the current thread entitled Edmonton Housing Rental Just Too Expensive. Although it's about Edmonton, the information in it is relevant to Calgary too.

See also Calgary grocery price comparison for June.

While you're about it, read the Wiki article about Alberta health care to find out what the provincial health care insurance plan does and does not cover.

Provided you have had enough driving experience (a couple of years, if I remember correctly), you can exchange your UK driver's licence for an Alberta driver's licence. See the Wiki article called Alberta - Driving licence.

You seem to be far enough along in your research that you probably know the different ways of getting into Canada. However, if you don't, read the Wiki article called Canadian Immigration Overview.

Well, that should keep you out of mischief for a while.

Oakridge, in the southwest quadrant. It's just south of the Glenmore Reservoir. It shows up as 141 on the Multiple Listing Service map.

Here's a link for Cougar Ridge.

http://www.cougar-ridge.com/index.html

You'll find the average house prices a little out of date more like $500,00+ now.

If you click on the Area Homes for Sale button you'll get a much better idea of today's prices.

Another website about Cougar Ridge.

http://www.calgaryarea.com/sw/cougar...ougarridge.htm

Plus one more for the West Springs/Cougar Ridge community Association

http://www.wscr.ca/

Cheers
Steve
