Ex Pat Shield for BBC I player.
#1
Just read this article in today's I Paper. page 26. British ex pats can now watch BBC I player outside of the UK. Ex Pat Shield -designed by soft ware company Anchor Free tricks the BBc by giving you a internet address for the UK. Just down loaded it for free and it seems to be as they advertised. It puts a new bar on your search engine and it seems to be easy to use.Google Ex Pat Shield and there you go ! I would do it straight away before the BBC closes them down. Read the article too. I paper, which is part of the Independent group.Page 26. top left hand corner.

"To those asking what this device does? Well all it really does is provide a listing search for more than 13,000 radio stations. You could look for them in Google or some software music players also do this. "
Also found comments that they didn't work for UK stations.
Does anyone know - are they in fact more than a list of URL's and some presentation software?

As it is important for ex-pats, can I suggest we keep this "on-topic"?
Ie, the Ex-pat Shield?
There are hundreds of so called "Solve everything downloads" available but they are mostly crap. The last one recommended to me, on good authority, immediately started downloading porn as soon as it was installed......
It has taken me a good two months to get it off my computer.
(Its difficult to hit delete when your hand is shaking................careful now)

Hi tried to download Ex Pat Shield yesterday 4 times yesterday after each download I found I could not access the Internet. Has anyone in India been able to download the Ex Pat Shield program and then be able to access some UK TV.

Well I've taken the gamble and downloaded Expat Shield to give it a try, but unless they've got some new twist it will only take the BBC a few days to blacklist the UK IP addresses that they use.

Thats exactly what I thought, Andy, but assumed due to its glowing reports that it had some special attributes that stopped the BBC doing that. If its a straight forward proxy server set-up, then probably a waste of time?
Horse Doctor, the proxy server aspect could be what is giving you the problems depending on the individual configuration of your computer and browser/internet provider. A proxy server in some aspects stops YOU looking like YOU, therefore you are not recognised and permitted to connect.......

So I doubt if it will fool the Beeb either.

HOT NEWS........BREAKING NEWS
BBC have just announced (5 mins ago) that a worldwide version of I-player will be launched in the first half of next year!
They have not yet decided if it will be pay-per-view, by subscription, or advert funded (as most of their international stuff is)
The BBC executive inferred that negotiations were still taking place and my guess is Ad-funded as they then dont have the hassle of collecting dosh from the end user and dealing with the IT world's best attempts to defeat the system.........
