We are using Airpets next month for our dog (Weimeraner) and found them extremely professional and polite.

Shipping dogs is expensive, perhaps Airpets are one of the most expensive but I'd rather pay it for my peace of mind. They know the import/export/quarantine paperwork and regulations and I feel I am reassured everything will be OK.

Hope this helps.

Hi

We are using Golden Arrow Shippers in Shropshire.... We are paying £1434.00 for our Border Collie, Jacob, to travel from Heathrow to Sydney... Apparently though this is about to go up to about £1840.00 when the airlines put up their charges in September!!..

Good luck and let me know if you would like their number..

Cheers

Sam

HAHAHHAHAHAHAHA !! a NEWFIE owner

We are sending our 4 newfs out in september, golden arrow shippers are by far the most competitive and helpful we have found !!!

P.s. we plan on breeding our bunch, so if your interested , we could hook up, canine speaking lol

We used to have Newfies too, when I was growing up. Fantastic dogs...Don't have any dogs at the moment, but will be getting another Kelpie when we get back to Oz.

How do you reckon Newfs will cope in Oz?

We plan on building air conditioned kennels for em and have a big dam for them to cool off in.

We don't show them so we will probably sheep sheer them to keep them more comfortable

They just sleep anyway when its hot, wake up for food and go crazy for a bit when it cools down so i'm not worried at all.

WOW - FOUR NAUGHTY NEWFIES TO OZ ! - my hubby's having a heart attack over the cost of shipping Bertie to New Zealand. Every time he's naughty (which as a newfie owner you will know is quite often), I tell him i could buy 2 1/2 newfies for what its costing to ship him over. I can't wait to get him to Nelson beaches and into the sea (although at the moment Bertie "doesn't do" water), or much else for that matter. Do your newfs swim or do draught work? -
I'm a bit worried about what state he will arrive in when he gets to New Zealand. He's going via L.A. and I hope on the stop over some kind person at the animal control centre will let him out to stretch his legs. Can't bear to think of him in a crate for over 24 hours. Also concerned that the cargo hold might be too warm for him. Have you any concerns about your newfies on the flight? Will probably go with Golden Arrow, thanks for the recommendation - he's travelling with our fat felines as well so at least he'll have company.

We are a little worries but i'm sure they'll be ok - i mean they fly hundreds of animals every year don't they???

Roxy our 1st newf swims like a brick is tied to her back end!!! and we haven't tried the others but we are going to Ragley Hall on 31st july to water trials with coco so may give her a go.

Good luck anyway hope all goes well.

regards

I would have thought the cargo hold would be cold if anything, have you seen the outside temperatures they display in flight? Don't worry - I'm sure they have some sort of heat control for the cargo bay!

the cargo hold is kept at 18C for pets, or so I am told - this is a bit too warm for a heavy coated giant breed like a newfoundland over a 24hr period. might have to get the sheep shears out prior to the flight.

Good idea we have sheared ours already!!! They look relly puppy like again but are much better for it.

Better if you don't intend to show as you can spot the ticks better once you get to oz!!!

hi Debs
you mentioned you have clipped your Newfies - did you do their front trouser legs and tail - never clipped Bertie before so unsure what parts to do. Don't like to see a dogs "dangly bits" - so will probably leave that area well alone - any advice gladly welcomed. Also does it take long to grow back again??
Thanks a lot - Heather

Any ideas on length quarantine when the dog arrives in Oz?NZ?
