Is UK bedding the same size?
#1
We're in the middle of packing, well more to the point I am
Last night I was wondering is a UK double the same size as an Aussie double. Should I take the bedding with us or buy new stuff, or both. My husband says that the sizes are the same (he's an aussie). I'm not too sure, and he just tells me things to make my stop stressing
. Does anyone know, I will be packing it all tonight
Thanks in advance!

Not 100% sure if that's right though.

. I really need to know though, I guess I could just pack it anyway but I didn't want to take any duvets with us.

UK and Aus beds are not the same size. Our (UK) king size bed is about (but not exactly) the same size as an Aus Queen size bed. Bloody pain in the arse when we wanted to buy an electric blanket.
Can't recall the exact measurements, but something to consider, should you be thinking about a new matress in the near future too.

Bring your duvets - they are expensive here, and not as thick and warm!
generally, UK queen - Aus double
UK king = Aus queen
UK superkingsize = Aus kingsize
Covers are expensive here too, so come prepared! I seem to remember Kala shipping a hostel full of covers in with her!!

This is such a relevant thread to me (in a way
) at the moment...
Mum and Dad arrive a week on sunday....
I've bought a new bed and all new linen for their arrival....
Bought an Aussie 'double', got it delivered, put it together and found it's tiny -like a UK queen size, like a single and a bit.
Mmmm..cheesed off.....

Heres a link to an example of the Sultan Hovsten spring mattress at the IKEA stores.
UK: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/store...ts=10103*10142
AUS: http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/store...ts=10103*10142
Even Ikea do seem to make them different in sizes.

Aus has 2 sizes
Single = Length: 189 cm, Width: 92 cm
Double = Length: 189 cm, Width: 135 cm
UK has 4 sizes
Length: 200 cm, Width: 80 cm
Length: 200 cm, Width: 90 cm
Length: 200 cm, Width: 140 cm
Length: 200 cm, Width: 160 cm
