The purpose of the Australian Immigration, Visas & Citizenship forum
This is where you post queries and helpful replies on subjects relating to the process of obtaining Australian visas and citizenship. There should be little or no 'chat' as it clogs up the threads and people are then unable to find the correct information for their particular visa or problem. If you make your title as clear as possible it's far more likely to get quick, correct replies. Use the visa name and the main problem. There is no point in making the title 'Does anyone know........'. Many people who will know will not waste time checking it out and you could miss out on valuable information.
In the light of the flurry of recent threads, please note that no-one can tell you what your timeline can be, either in total or for any section of the visa process. DIAC is more unpredictable than ever now and there is absolutely no point in repeatedly asking "how long do I have to wait......." or "how many days till I get my visa......" because they are questions that cannot be answered. This isn't a timeline site, its a site which aims to provide helpful information. If you are looking for a timeline site, you need to go elsewhere.
Equally, the practice on BE over several years, started by posters themselves, has been for a thread to be established each month for people applying during that month. These have never been split by nationality or visa type, and we don't intend to change that now. Its a system that works well, so we encourage it to continue.
This forum is a valuable resource filled with useful advice and information, lets keep it that way.

Re: The purpose of the Australian Immigration, Visas & Citizenship forum
There is an increasing tendency among posters on this forum to approach moderators asking for immigration advice.
For the benefit of those who don't understand the role of the moderators - we are here to keep the place in order. We do not have migration qualifications, and any information we pass on has been gleaned from our own experiences, either in real life or through posting on here.
If you are looking for an answer to a migration query, you would be best advised to post your question on the forum - sending personal messages and emails to moderators is not the way forward.
Moderators are not migration agents.
