Well said, BristolUK.
In fact those who choose to retire abroad, perhaps with their grand-children, no longer draw on a number of government support services including healthcare and so leave more funds available for those who stay in the UK. At the moment, the disincentive for many to emigrate with their families means there is less to go around for all UK-resident pensioners. Unfortunately the UK government doesn't seem to be able to handle that simple arithmetic.
To answer your point, dbd33, that is the very reverse of being self-centred.

Eh? As I understand it the pensioners have left. They did so in the knowledge that their pensions would then be frozen, their stance now is "Gimme gimme gimme". It's hardly altruistic.

It's not about being self centred. It's about equality and discrimination since only expats in commonwealth countries don't have their pensions indexed. If you live in the US or Venezuala then you're OK.

Well then, campaign to have indexing ended for all people who leave, that's fair and it's an idea the government might adopt.
