Re: Dual Citizens with expired UK passports

Anecdotally I believe its quite rare, most people aren't even aware that you can renounce, it just wouldn't occur to them.
Its not a requirement to renounce when taking Aus citizenship, but I had a...

Re: Dual Citizens with expired UK passports

What baffles me about this whole issue is - people who have emigrated and become citizens of countries such as Australia, Canada and the USA, who already have this rule regarding passports for...

Re: Update on Passport Requirements when entering the UK from February 2026

If she is automatically a UK citizen, then yes she needs a UK passport. So if she could just apply for a UK passport without having to apply for citizenship first, she needs a passport.
If she has...

Re: UK State Pension Class 2 Top-ups

If you can't register with the UK Gov website, you will need to apply on paper, and be warned, its very slow.

Re: Update on Passport Requirements when entering the UK from February 2026

I've just answered you on the other thread, but basically, you'll be fine.

You are entering before the rule change, effectively as an Aus tourist, Technically you should leave on a UK passport,...

Re: ETA - Dual citizens must have valid UK passport

Nothing will happen. You are entering as a tourist from Aus, before the passport rule changes.
You might choose to renew your UK passport while you're there, if its easier for you.

Re: Finding rentals from Australia

Bear in mind though that unless the OP's husband i renting in his name alone (and I truly don't know if thats possible) then the OP will need to provide proof that she is able to live in the UK. Most...

Re: Finding rentals from Australia

The main difference with my move is that I'm a UK citizen and was coming home. I can give you my experience, but whether it would work in your situation I don't know.

In my case, I emailed about...

Re: Renewing British passport from overseas

I'm not referring to UK visas, I have no idea how they are delivered. However from my own experience, and that of many posters on here, I know that renewed UK passports are usually delivered to home...

Re: Holiday in Aus with lapsed permanent residency

Likewise, she could apply for a RRV, though personally I think her chances are thin. And as with you getting a holiday visa, if she gets a WHV it would probably over-ride the permanent residence. ...

Re: Renewing British passport from overseas

Not come across that before and every forum on here has numerous passport questions. All of them mention the passport being delivered to their homes.

Do you have a link for the info?

Re: Holiday in Aus with lapsed permanent residency

If you think you may ever want to use your PR again, living in Australia, then applying for a RRV would be the way to go, as there is a chance that the ETA will cause your PR to be cancelled, as you...

Update on Passport Requirements when entering the UK from February 2026

Visitors to the UK need an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) if they do not need a visa for short stays of up to six months, or do not already have a UK immigration status. From 25 February 2026...

Re: Australian Superannuation, what to do with it?

Can't help you there I'm afraid, though other posters may be able to.
I was old enough when I left to withdraw the whole lot, and turn it all into savings, so no tax implications as I moved it home...

Re: Australian Superannuation, what to do with it?

It will stay in your super account until you reach an age at which you can access it. Then you can choose a lump sum, regular payments etc.

Make sure any insurance associated with it ( eg life...

Re: What to do with financial affairs prior/during migration?

Can't help with a lot of it, but some basic stuff - Barclays won't let you keep a UK account open on an Aus address. I bank with Lloyds however, and they were great, kept my account going the whole...

Re: Old UK passport - keep it?

Actually, you just need proof of UK citizenship. I entered in October on an Australian passport, with just a photo on my phone of my UK passport. An expired UK passport would definitely fit the bill....
