I must've been unlucky, just north of Sydney & we had about 5 days of frost in July.

As one (adopted) Geordie to another I think its all bout wages, the bloke who mows our lawn wants $60 per hour for doing so! Needless to say we've bought a ($200) mower and declined.

You're right, don't come - its far too expensive here in Australia ;) Especially with all that high paid IT work in the UK.

Average wage for Java in London is 60k, top 10% is over 85k - http://www.itjobswatch.co.uk/jobs/london/java.do

Sadly I don't have figures for anywhere in Aus but would expect Sydney and Melbourne...

To be fair, the OP is saying he's on 80k GBP in London and $90k AUD would be a step down in Australia, and it would.

IMHO (for IT jobs) moving to Perth is the equivalent of moving to Bristol, nothing wrong with the place but you may find the odd high end role (and we are discussing fairly high end roles here) but...

Then you're not comparing Apples with Apples - Perth is not the Aus equivalent of London (for IT its a small market), the equivalent is Sydney (or maybe Melb).

Sydney IT pay can be quite a bit...
