Those may be the official rules, but realistically anybody can get one. Most of my friends get them regularly for nannies/babysitters.

I already have done, in that post you quoted. Anybody can order a CRB check on you, your criminal past is a matter of public record I'm afraid.

Why do you think it's confidential? I could get the details of your criminal convictions very easily, and if I can then immigration certainly can!
