Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

No offence taken.

And to answer Celsius - I did live there for two years. Okay, maybe I haven't built up your level of experience yet, but I think even you'll have to admit that I've given it a...

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

Ha! My brother in law on Long Island actually had a Disney themed wedding!

My visa hadn't come through then, so Wifey and I just got to look at the pictures. I don't think I could keep a straight...

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

Hey Kingfisher!

I love the Saint. My father regretted giving me The Saint in New York for my 16th birthday, because I've been wanting to move to NY ever since!

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

Oh, I'm sorry. Let me know how I can make up the 0.4 seconds of your life I cruelly wasted by forcing you to read that repeated statement.

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

Thanks for the kind words, Leeds Lass!

I actually spent two years on Long Island, so I do know what's it's like to live stateside - and I love it. I moved away from England when I was 21 and never...

Smile Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

One of the reasons I started this post was because my missus and I are on the cusp of moving over to America - FINALLY.

When we got married, she lived in New York and the plan was to move right on...

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

Yum. Had a bottle of California Zin last night with our dinner. But our dinner was roast lamb topped with chedder and mustard crust. Not typically American! Bloody lovely, though.

And asparagus...

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

That's exactly it!

Maybe I'm still enamoured with America, but I thought it would be nice to list all the things we love about the place, instead of the things we miss or dislike.

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

I got a great reception too. I felt like that kid Colin, in Love Actually, who goes to America to meet girls.

And I did meet a lovely girl and got married. She was AMAZED when she came to England....

Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

We're IN THE PROCESS of moving out there. It's been a long journey. From application to holding my green card in my hand took three and a half YEARS.

When I was last out there, in October, I was...

Cool Re: Why did you decide to live in America?

I'm surprised there hasn't been another thread about it. We all talk about what we miss from England etc... But obviously America is a choice we've all had to make (however difficult.)

I'm just...

Question Why did you decide to live in America?

Could be a lot of reasons - marriage, job or whatever...

But why the USA and not Britain?

For me, there are a lot of reasons. My (American) wife is just amazing and her eccentric American ways...
