That's so funny, not that you got slagged. But all the Americans love ginger hair. My friend has a three month old and she is praying that she gets red hair. I told her that in the UK the kid would be ridiculed and she doesn't believe me, I will need to show her this!

And I did meet a lovely girl and got married. She was AMAZED when she came to England. She never believed we gingers got crap for the colour of our hair. Then she saw it herself.

There's been a few...
But anyway, for me, the opportunity, the missus is from Maine, and we're young, figured it would be a good adventure, sodding immigration though...but anyway, that and a junior art salary and more job prospects were what I thought were a good idea at the time, and ability to have a better cost of living, which was arse in retrospect because I had a custy job offer back in blighty, had I of known how long it would have taken to get a greencard and find a job out here, I might have thought differently, because those years of wasted experience, I wouldn't be in a junior position now, and be double my money...but such is life.
Still an adventure though, and it's not all bad.

I have just seen a woman reverse all the way down our street in her SUV - about 150 yards at least - just to get to the communal mailbox!!
You couldn't do that in Blighty now, could you!

Move to PA - we bought a 4 bedroom, 4 acres with a lake for less than that. Admittedly it needs a lot of work - but I've noticed Americans would rather buy a new house with no maintenance than anything "old" (ie over 20 years!) so houses that needs work tends to be a bargain, IMO.

I call our house Swann Vesta because it's made of the same stuff as a matchbox.
