Re: US schools and the Pledge

Ah got it.

Actually, I was referring to my own experiences, in Chicago. It has nothing at all to do with skin color really, much more with culture.

I've had more fun with the African...

Re: US schools and the Pledge

Sorry, making sure I know what you mean...

Blacks "born with a chip on their shoulder"- distrusting whites

Re: US schools and the Pledge

That is interesting.

I kinda cringe to even discuss this, because some people tend to get so easily upset, but here goes...

The black people that I've met in the caribbean, or cab drivers...

Re: US schools and the Pledge

Oh sure, they still can be - no doubt about that. Not everyone of course, and I suspect there is a higher incidence in the south.

Glad it wasn't me...

Re: US schools and the Pledge

I don't know - I really find that people will do things for each other.

I'm always giving my friend a ride to the doctor, making a meal for my friend with the sick child - and I don't think I'm...

Re: US schools and the Pledge

:)

Well I'm personally off to get some free food (samples at Sams Club) and free not-really illicit substances (wine tasting at the local wine store). Sorry everyone in PA.

Nice talking...

Of course, I have the advantage of a UK fiance.

Yes I was talking about child benefit for one - couldn't remember the term. ...

Re: US schools and the Pledge

Just for the record, I personally have no problem at all with people needing a helping hand.

I don't like it when the programs are used and abused.

Re: US schools and the Pledge

It is, I believe, much easier to get jobseekers, "the dole", etc. in the UK. I think disability pay from the govt. comes immediately, rather than after a wait like it is in the U.S.

Also...

Re: US schools and the Pledge
