Yes, well, we still come and go.

I am a tax resident in the UK.

Perhaps Fred James can put his 5 penny worth in here, if you own a house it must be possible to own and register a car here even...

Well thats a problem. I currently own three vehicles all registered to me here in Spain and as yet I am not a resident.
So how does that work?

I think you will find the answer is NO. You have to be on the 'padron'. So get registered with your local Ayuntimento and proceed from there.
