Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

I am fully aware of the responsibility that comes with gun ownership. The decision wasn't entered in to blindly.

Although I live in Texas, it is no longer the wild west out here, we are civilized...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

Criminals prefer easy targets. Given the choice of smashing through a window like a scene from the US Embassy siege, is not as realistic as someone gaining entry, shall we say in a more discreet...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

I thought only Jacko lived in a bubble?

How can it be described as 'doing Rambo things' in wanting to protect yourself and your family.

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

On this note, does anyone have insurance that allows provision to cover for
civil defense and liability (and criminal defense) reimbursement if they are
involved in an act of self-defense in...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

I agree, I am unlikely to be able to react to this at all
I would be foolish to go for my gun.

This 'scenario' is not really a reason to not have a gun for a more realistic situation...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

A semi automatic with 14 rounds is going to at least find my target once, regardless of adrenaline. A hollow point .45, even one of them, will stop an attack. Add in the fact that my wife also has a...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

Thanks Ray

Wow, they stock a lot of different styles. I think I need to try a few for fit and comfort. Maybe a gun show is in order after all.

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

My right eye is dominant, and I am right handed.
I had to google what dry fire meant, but after reading about it I'll try this. I tend to anticipate the shot, and jerk. Sometimes I forget to use the...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

I've looked at a few more smaller handguns since my initial post. I'll be solely carrying the new gun. I love my XD, but I fear its size and weight when its got all 14 rounds in it means it will be...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

Your hubby is correct, and the idea he would know this is part amazing and part freaky  http://www.handgunsmag.com/tactics_training/combatg_100306/index3.html
I was googling for information on...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

LMFAO - I was just contemplating trying to begin explaining this.
The most boring post ever, but appreciated none the less :D

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

Its true. It relates to the angle in which the bullet is fired. If straight up then it would not kill (it would only reach terminal velocity), but at an angle it would maintain its spin and maintain...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

You really think someone will think twice about whether you have a gun before they use theirs? If someone enters my home with a gun then I won't wait for them to shoot it before I start firing. If...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

When I first moved here the thought of even holding a handgun scared me. However as my wife has 5 guns (all but one given to her by her father) and has kept a loaded one in her night-stand next to...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

Better gun education is obviously needed. One of my instructors told me how a beer steadied his aim when he went hunting
Which incidentally is why I chose a different instructor for...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

OK, I am glad your not anti-ownership.
The father-in-law has already taken me down this avenue. He has a holster under the dash and a safer place to leave it when he leaves it in the car. You could...

Re: Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

I get the impression we are heading down the anti-gun ownership route here?

Owning a handgun for defense is pointless unless you can actually put your hands on it. I will have a concealed carry...

Handgun grip - what is the best way to hold a gun

Having my own gun for the first time (a Christmas present from the wife), I have been visiting the range a lot. Mainly to prepare for my concealed carry course in 2 weeks.
The only way I hold my gun...
