I was born and lived in Canada for 43 years. I don't think I ever met anyone who was "bitter" about being mistaken for being American. I do correct people when they assume I'm from somewhere else. ...

Do you look and sound Indian? Perhaps if you were Pakistani you may feel differently and want it known that you were from Pakistan and not India. I apparently sound American, although I don't hear...

A touque is what you would call a stocking cap. It's knitted and usually has a pom-pom (perfect for you Brits) on the top.

And no, Canadians DO NOT want to be American any more than the British...

Don't know why you would look Canadian with a baseball cap on. Baseball caps are American. You would look Canadian if you were wearing a touque.
