Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Similar here. Lots of concern right now about seniors who cannot afford rent, and seniors who are living on the streets and in cars, and of course youth as well.

Another issue is white folks get...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Most of the East Indian's I work with live multi-generational and seems to work well.

I would certainly do it if it were an option, seems to make sense to me, pool resources together and live more...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Well we are priced out of the market so not buying anyway, it's not even an option to buy.

Our rent is $1,750 so not exactly low, affordable or easy to meet, but it is lower then market rent in...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

In Vancouver there really is no housing ladder anymore and a condo is even out of range for more and more families/people.

Using CMHC affordability calculator and 50k down, they say max price of...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Indeed it wasn't. It was a blue collar mill town back then for the most part.

Back then places like Abbotsford and Chilliwack weren't either, but today effectively are part of Vancouver even if...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

The only reason we are paid what we are paid where I work is due to the high cost of living in Vancouver and it being an employees market for low skilled jobs, we have a difficult attracting...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Probably. We could at our current income but our income would drop substantially in Winnipeg. If we could maintain BC income living in Winnipeg, I would move no issue.

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

:goodpost:

My wife's mother bought a home in Squamish in 1984, she worked at Sears as a sales person.

Certainly can't do that today working a non-management retail job. Only the wealthy and...

Re: Review of Vancouver after 18 months

Not sure anyone earning the median or average income in Vancouver can afford to buy these days, at least a house, maybe a condo but even condos are a bit pricey, we are in East Van and in somewhat...
