But you don't have children. It's one thing to experiment when there's little to lose, another when you have responsibilities.

An arrangement that can work well for mothers with small children. We don't care that we don't see them, when they work or how they schedule their time.

I think that's very much a valid concern. Remember Canada is in many ways "America in the fifties". Apart from the practical consideration of having "baggage" it may be that a potential employer...

Of course it depends on the age of the children and the precise location but, it seems to me that a child left in a daycare or with the nanny is going to have a similar experience in either country....

But isn't a major part of "emigrating for the sake of the children" the possibility of one parent staying home? If you can't provide that then it's not obvious to me how children would be better off...
