Confused. It's at least a 7.5-8 hour flight (actually flight time is probably a little less) from Boston to LA. Also, there are four time zones in the (continental) US.

As an American, I'll agree with the responses here that say that the true trump card of life in the US is the beauty and diversity of the landscape. Everything else is debatable, but it's undeniable...
