Dubai is the better place to be, it's developed into an international hub Doha will never be (and why Doha needs to bribe people to go there). A few years in Dubai won't hurt your CV, but I suppose...

Qatar is not an endearing place. The money needs to be very, very good to make it worthwhile, and for the OP it sounds like it may not be.

It's rare to not accept some sunk costs in the first few...

And a dining set, a ugly brown living room suite with scratchy fabric, a cheap Chinese TV, and wardrobes with ill-fitting doors that never close properly.

But the maid keeps it spotlessly clean.

Based on what I saw in Qatar:

Most properties come furnished. You can ask for unfurnished, but most expats I knew lived in furnished accommodation.

The furniture isn't always the nicest but...
