I see. No, nothing like that. This wasn't an intra company relocation. It was a new job at a new firm so no relocation help other than they paid for shipping, lent us the money for the security...

Her colleague suggested they both go and speak to their boss but I'm not sure that's such a good idea.

Bob - she's in quite a specialised field (hence the H1B) so other jobs not easy to find. Maybe in one of the big audit firms.
Also, she's on a cap exempt H1B whereas an audit firm would not be cap...
