Given the state of European politics (Italy, Austria, France, Netherlands etc) that assumes the EU exists in its present form by the next UK election.

You are talking about me :-) and yes painful - I am leaving it it the UK in the hope that once Brexit is sorted the £ will rise. If in a couple of years it is still dire I will take the hit - sob.

Anyone who gets a State pension can switch to NZ super and do very well if outside the 4 year tax holiday.

Commentators all seem to think that economic drivers were the important factor, whereas as I consider (from a distance) that the EU democratic deficit/desire for national sovereignty were paramount...

Risky to whom - if the Commons (or Lords more likely) don't support her - new election - probably a landslide given the state of Labour.

They have implied that a hard Brexit would be loosely based...

Sensibly IMO the UK would just say goodbye and we will play by WTO rules until we can get tariff agreements, sector by sector if necessary. It would be equally painful to the UK and EU, but the EU...

Brexit politicians won't accept that - so she will have to call a new election and that could get interesting if she stands on your suggested platform ie Brexit Lite.

I don't quite understand why they can't apply for citizenship of the relevant country if wanted (most have a similar residence requirement as NZ ie 5 years).
