I suggest your first port of call is your GP, and whoever is managing your partners diabetes, request a concise clinical medical report outlining the following :-

Date of diagnosis

Thanks for your reply. Our agent was concerned that the first letter wasn't worded very well, so hopefully paying to see a specialist will mean we get a better report.
