No such benefits here in Alberta, Canada.
EI (JSB) lasts 38 weeks. If you receive severance pay then this is cut back.
In my case I received 1 1/2 years redundancy from work and was cut back to 14...

I should have done it 2 years ago when I was laid off from the Daily Urinal here in Edmonton.
By the way we may have worked for the same parent companies in years past....

How long does the JSA last?
Do you have to prove that you are actively seeking employment?
I too am a 'Plastic Paddy'. Lived in Ireland from age 7 to 22.
