Bologna is also good for transport links, it's a major "hub" for just about every form of transport.
Admittedly no nice lakes as in Lombardy but I love the pre-Appenines and even on the plains...

Bologna is a great place to live/work, but if your partner (Anna?) is into cloting and fashion and such hen you might be better off in Milan.

But the food is definitely better in Bologna ;)

;) I'm not a big drinker but yes the wine is very good too I'm told.

unemployment will be up to 12% next year, recession is in its fourth (fifth?) year, and society is rife with corruption, crime and financial ruin.

But the food is good and...
