There are a variety of different qualifications for electricians in the UK, many of us do not know what would be an acceptable standard appropriate for a given scope of work...

I am not knocking anyone, on the contrary two of my British friends are time served electricians. One works for a spanish company and the other .......... does not.

I would rather have a guy who is qualified carry out the work. It is not so easy to check wiring you cannot see.

Have you ever tried to do this? I think you will find it very difficult to find an electrician who would sign off on another man's work. :unsure:

Most of us know to always use a professional for gas maintenance and electrical repairs. I agree with most of what you said, but I would suggest very few of us would know which qualifications to ask...

That was my point. I would want to use an electrician trained and qualified in the regulations pertinent to the country working for a reputable company.

There are many electrical qualifications...
